IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a high level situational assessment at the Northern Command today, where he confirmed that the war against Hezbollah has reached a critical turning point. During his visit with Northern Command head Major General Rafi Milo, Zamir authorized plans for the continued expansion of ground operations in Southern Lebanon. The Chief of Staff emphasized that Hezbollah is no longer fighting a war of choice, but is now engaged in a "war for its very survival" as the IDF systematically dismantles its leadership and military infrastructure. Zamir also noted that the collapse of the Iranian regime’s military power is having a direct, crippling effect on its Lebanese proxy.

A Multi-Front Collapse

According to General Zamir, the key to defeating Hezbollah lies in the ongoing strikes against its masters in Tehran. "Iran is the main arena. Weakening the regime and its capabilities will weaken the entire radical axis and, within it, the Hezbollah terrorist organization," he stated. He explained that every hit on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard directly impacts Hezbollah's funding and weapon supply, creating a "shockwave" of weakness that is now being felt on the Lebanese front. Over the past two weeks, the IDF has transitioned into targeted ground actions in Southern Lebanon, with the specific goal of pushing the threat away from the border and ensuring that northern residents can return to their homes with long term security.

Deepening the Blow

The cost of the war for Hezbollah has been immense. Zamir revealed that Northern Command has already eliminated over 400 terrorists, including many high ranking commanders. Despite these gains, the IDF is not slowing down. "We are preparing for the continuation and reinforcing the Northern Command with additional forces in order to expand the military operation, deepen the damage to Hezbollah, and distance the threat from the northern settlements," Zamir told the troops. He concluded by stating that the pressure on the terrorist organization will only increase, as Hezbollah continues to pay a heavy price for its decision to enter the war on behalf of the Iranian regime.
