An Israeli government spokesperson, as relayed through Al Jazeera, has announced that Israel anticipates the simultaneous release of all remaining living hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The transfer is expected to take place early on Monday morning at dawn, marking a critical moment in the US-brokered ceasefire agreement.

The announcement comes as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed its adherence to the deal's terms by completing a withdrawal to the agreed-upon "Yellow Line" demarcation.

All Hostages at Once

The government spokesperson, speaking to the Qatari-based news outlet, stated: "We expect all hostages to be released soon. The release will take place with dawn on Monday, all at once."

This single-event transfer, rather than a phased release, is seen as an attempt to streamline the humanitarian aspect of the truce and minimize logistical delays.

The IDF’s withdrawal to the "Yellow Line", a security perimeter that respects the agreement's terms, signals Israel's continued commitment to the deal despite immediate reports of Hamas attempting to reassert internal control within Gaza.

Preparing for the Deceased

In a tragic component of the arrangement, the spokesperson also confirmed that Israel is preparing for the grim task of receiving the bodies of deceased hostages.

"We are prepared to receive the bodies of the 28 deceased hostages after the release of the living hostages," the spokesperson stated.

The confirmation of the specific number of deceased hostages whose remains are expected back adds a somber dimension to the diplomatic breakthrough, offering closure to families who have endured months of uncertainty.

The immediate focus remains on securing the safe return of the living captives by Monday morning, a factor that will ultimately determine the longevity of the fragile ceasefire and influence international confidence in the multi-phase peace agreement.

UPDATE:

Israeli security source says Hamas has begun gathering hostages in an area for tomorrow's handover.
