Tensions are rising nationwide as the American hostage's release appears imminent, while Hamas officials suggest political rewards may be tied to Trump and Israel insists no ceasefire has been agreed.

In Israel, preparations are underway for the expected release today (Monday) of the hostage with American citizenship, Edan Alexander, following an agreement between the United States and Hamas.

According to a report by the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, the release is expected to take place as early as noon, possibly even at 12 PM.

This morning, the Prime Minister's office clarified that the fire will continue in Gaza. "The expected release of IDF soldier Edan Alexander without any compensation will be possible due to the aggressive policy we have led with the support of President Trump, and thanks to the military pressure from IDF soldiers in the Gaza Strip," was stated from Netanyahu's office.

According to the office: "Israel has not committed to any ceasefire or to the release of prisoners, but only to a safe corridor that will allow for Edan's release. We are in critical days where Hamas is faced with a deal that would allow for the release of our hostages. Negotiations will continue under fire and while preparations are made to intensify the fighting."

A senior Hamas official referred to the agreement and told AP that the mediators suggested to them to give a gift to Trump with the assurance that the U.S. President would in return give them a larger gift.

Edan's family made their way to Israel from the United States last night. Trump's envoy for hostage affairs, Adam Bohler, published a photo on X, where he is seen alongside the family members on the flight. "It is an honor for me to travel with Yael, Idan's mother, on her way to reunite with her son from Hamas," he wrote. "Thank you, President Trump, for your commitment to bring all Americans home."
