IDF's Persian Social Media Account Issues Urgent Warning Issued to “Patriotic Iranians” as Tensions Explode

As anti-regime protests grip Iran, the IDF has issued an urgent Farsi-language warning to “patriotic Iranians.” With scammers and fake Mossad accounts flooding the web, the Israeli military is directing citizens to official channels for sharing intel and support, leaving experts asking: what’s coming next?

Israeli military correspondent Itay Blumental highlighted a new message issued by the IDF in Farsi directly to the Iranian public.

In the post, the IDF’s official Persian-language spokesperson addressed the “patriotic Iranian people" and instructed them to contact Israel only through the official channels listed and to ignore any other accounts.

The message lists the verified official accounts (primarily the main @IDF_Persian channel and related Israeli government platforms).

The warning comes as Iran continues to reel from the crackdown on anti-regime protests that began in January 2026. During this period, many Iranians have tried to reach out to Israel to share information, express support, or seek assistance.

At the same time, a wave of fake accounts impersonating the IDF, Mossad, or other Israeli entities has appeared on Telegram, Instagram, and X, attempting to scam people by asking for money, personal details, or cryptocurrency.

The IDF’s statement is intended to protect genuine contacts and prevent fraudsters from exploiting the situation.

Blumental noted the timing with the comment: “Why exactly now? Interesting…”This is part of Israel’s broader information efforts toward Iran amid the ongoing unrest and high regional tensions.
