A dramatic roadside birth occurred Sunday night as a 29-year-old woman from Be'er Ganim delivered her first child while en route to Assuta Ashdod, a public hospital in southern Israel.
Shlomit Magaznik was at 40 weeks of pregnancy when she began experiencing contractions during the night. She had attended a routine checkup two days earlier. Unaware that she was already in active labor, she also did not realize how quickly the birth would progress.
Moments after informing her husband that she was giving birth, the couple's daughter, Libi, was born in the back seat of the vehicle --- before they could reach the hospital.
