Iris Leal, a writer for Haaretz, blamed Israel on Sunday for the death of a child in the Gaza Strip as a result of the weather.
"A child died of cold in Gaza City; since last winter 12 children have died of cold in the Strip," Leal wrote. "If you're asking yourselves what this has to do with you, well, you did this. And I did too, of course. All of us."
Leal drew heavy criticism in response, with many social-media users calling her a Hamas propagandist.
"You can't take the galut out of some Jews who take the blame in a Pavlovian way even toward those who came to destroy them. Shame and disgrace," one user wrote.
Another wrote: "They have brothers in Egypt and Jordan, they can move there and Israel won't object. Even to European countries that have taken in tens of millions of refugees in the last decade, Israel won't object if the Gazans move there."
A third user blamed the left: "Not a doll. Not us. You and your people. You who pushed for the Disengagement. You who were burning to abuse Jews. You don't care about an Arab child. They're just a weapon for eliminating Jews. And when an Arab dies, for you a bomb exploded in the ammunition depot and went to waste."
