Opening of Kerem Shalom

Right-Wing Outrage Over the Opening of the Kerem Shalom Crossing

After an American official said that Israel had agreed to the US request to open the Kerem Shalom crossing for the inspection of humanitarian aid trucks, right-wing activists on the network were outraged: "The soldiers are fighting, the abductees do not see the light of day, and we will bring goods in from Israel?"

A senior American official told the Reuters news agency last night (Thursday night) that Israel agreed to the US request to open the Kerem Shalom crossing for the purpose of security checks of humanitarian aid trucks before they enter the Gaza Strip. The news caused great outrage among prominent right-wing activists, who criticized and claimed that it was a "Surrender Agreement of the Surrender Government."

According to the activists, "After the government's firm promises regarding the complete severance of Israel from any responsibility for the Gaza Strip, we again enter a trap and accept a responsibility in which we are forced to provide water, electricity and the entry of workers from the Gaza Strip. This decision proves that we have learned nothing from the terrible massacre of October 7, and what was will be."

The chairperson of the "Israel Sheli" movement, Sara Ha'etzni-Cohen, wrote on Twitter: "So what, we open Kerem Shalom for them? When the soldiers are fighting house to house, the kidnapped do not see the light of day, the Red Cross has not visited them and we have no idea what their medical condition is, and we bring in goods from Israel?"

Journalist Yishai Shenrav wrote: "And... the Kerem Shalom crossing was opened for the transfer of aid from our territory (not that it matters from which territory it enters), the abductees were not returned, the Red Cross did not visit them. We will wait vigilantly for the equation to change in all sectors."

A screenwriter (Manayek) and a prominent right-wing activist on the Internet, Roy Iddan wrote: "And here it is happening. The Kerem Shalom crossing will soon open. Our heroic soldiers are being killed inside, the abductees have not yet been visited by the Red Cross, it is not even known which of them are alive... What zeros we are, it's something. A leadership unworthy of this nation."
