Biden's new threat: No more offensive weapons

The US continues to restrict Israel's moves in Gaza, and a close associate of the Biden administration is now threatening that if the operation in Rafah expands, the US will stop shipments of offensive weapons to Israel

Democratic Senator Chris Coons, who is considered close to the White House and President Biden himself, threatened in an interview that if Israel expands the operation in the Rafah area, the United States will stop all shipments of offensive weapons to Israel.

The puzzling message comes precisely after the Biden administration began to step back from its statement about preventing arms shipments to Israel, but now the American administration is speaking with two voices and is actually threatening an offensive weapons embargo on Israel if it continues the assault on Rafah.

Such a prevention of arms shipments could include critical measures not only for fighting in Gaza but for any scenario of a flare-up in the North. The definition of offensive weapons appears to include: tank shells, bombs, missiles for airplanes, and even artillery shells.
