Judicial reform advocate Rothman: The legal system was supposed to protect us from the ICC
In response to the ICC Prosecutor's decision to file for warrants against the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Rothman noted that the legal system's claim to be a shield against such indictments has now collapsed.

MK Simcha Rothman, Chairman of the Knesset's Constitutional Committee, responded today (Tuesday) to ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan's request for warrants against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes.
"The events of the last 24 hours are evidence against the saying that our legal system is the bullet proof vest against events in international courts abroad," he said, adding "I don't think this needs to lead people to think we need reform or we need to oppose reform."
"Our legal system needs to be fixed in the way we see fit, based on agreement and in accordance with our needs as a state. We will leave the nations of the world to their antisemitism. They will attack the State of Israel for political reasons, not thanks to or because of and not according to the question of how we manage our affairs in the non-war sphere."
He also said that he "hopes that we hear in any event of full enlistment and a clear statement by the heads of the legal system of the State of Israel that they condemn what is happening in the Hague and use that famous international prestige, which they claim they have, for the sake of defending the Land of Israel."
