Border Zone Media Standoff

WATCH: Tensions Flare between IDF soldiers and Arab News Crew in Syrian Border Zone

The clash between media and military forces underscores the challenges of reporting from this strategic area, where Israel maintains a security presence along its northern frontier.

Rare footage has emerged showing a confrontation between Israeli Defense Forces and journalists from Egypt-based Al-Ghad pan-Arab channel near Quneitra in southern Syria, as reported by Roi Kais.

This comes after Israeli forces initiated a significant operation in Quneitra, Syria, with tanks encircling administrative buildings and issuing evacuation orders. Israeli troops have also entered Al-Baath city, known as "New Quneitra," just 1.9 miles from the border, according to Sky News Arabia and multiple Arab media sources.

This is still part of the aftermath of the fall of the Assad regime in October and marks Israel's deepest push into Syrian territory since establishing a presence beyond the Golan buffer zone. Local protests have erupted in response to the Israeli presence, while in Damascus, a reported Israeli drone strike on weapons facilities resulted in approximately 20 casualties.

Israel maintains it isn't intervening in Syria's internal affairs but warns new Syrian leader al-Julani against allowing jihadist groups to establish themselves in the south. The IDF is reportedly preparing for an extended deployment through winter.
