The IDF admitted today (Tuesday) that it was fighting against newly recruited terrorists in the Gaza Strip, according to Galei Tsahal.
The IDF explained that the purpose of the military operation in the northern Gaza Strip is to create a security zone for the residents of the border area, by clearing the area of infrastructure and terrorists.
Senior officers who take part in the fighting in the area explain that although the IDF maneuvered at the beginning of the war in the northern Gaza Strip, this time it was an operation aimed at thoroughly clearing the entire area of terror infrastructure and terrorists: "We are doing things that we did not do in previous operations. We are reaching field cells where the aspiration is that the IDF will not have to return to them again. This is not a raid operation – it is a maneuver for the purpose of the complete destruction of the enemy and the infrastructure."
The IDF also assesses that the weapons used by the terrorists in the area are partly made from unexploded IDF bombs – "You see a lot of improvisations, every explosive that exists – they are trying to use it against us."
The IDF's remarks come after the forces of the Kfir Brigade's combat team under the command of the 162nd Division completed their mission in the northern Gaza Strip after three months of fighting in the area.
During the mission, the forces eliminated many terrorists from the air and in face-to-face battles, some of whom took part in the October 7 massacre, located weapons and destroyed the underground route and infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization.
