REVEALED: How the IDF blunted and then destroyed Hezbollah's fearsome rocket arsenal
The IDF has revealed new footage and information on how it managed to protect the country from Hezbollah's tens of thousands of projectiles.

The IDF released additional footage and materials today (Monday) showing how it succeeded in blunting and then destroying much of Hezbollah's fearsome arsenal of tens of thousands of rockets.
According to Major R., who was put in charge of the fire center shortly after October 7, their job, according to "the combat protocols we conducted during those days, we prepared for severe scenarios, involving the launch of thousands of rockets per day," he recalls, "We did everything to be as creative and flexible as possible in real-time - not to fall in love with plans, but to adapt them to the reality and the current war."
In the first months, they maintained a quiet external appearance and began carefully and consistently "nibbling" at the rocket array of the terrorist organization: "Beyond the daily targeted attacks to preempt the threat, one of our central efforts during that period was closing the circle on launchers that succeeded in firing into Israeli territory."
"With the systems at our disposal, we identified the locations from which rockets were launched towards the rear, and destroyed the launch sites," explains the department head, "It's like the famous whack-a-mole game where moles jump out of holes. Hezbollah's arsenal contained many mobile launchers, so we needed to 'hammer' with intensity before the 'mole' could escape back into the hole and disappear until the next launch."
For months, the campaign in the northern arena remained 'contained', with the IDF effort primarily focused on the Gaza Strip. During those weeks, dozens of special operations were carried out across the border beneath the surface, through which forces collected highly valuable information. In cooperation with intelligence command centers and collection battalions, more and more target identifications were added to the target bank. Until the end of July - a turning point.
It was then that the lethal attack on Majdal Shams occured, and the IDF knew it had to neutralize Hezbollah's missile array right then and there. In the "This Is The Moment" operation, the IDF struck some 260 missile launchers in multiple strikes, launchers which were ready to hit Israel at a moment's notice.
Then, when the IDF launched its ground offensive, the IDF launched Operation Date Harvest, in which the Air Force struck over 400 mobile and fixed rocket launchers, helping Israel to better contend with Hezbollah threats and continue the attack into southern Lebanon.
