UNTOLD: The Shocking Failure of Israel’s Air Defense on October 7th – What Really Happened?
A year and four months after the October 7 massacre, new details have emerged revealing the breakdown of Israel’s air defense systems during that devastating morning. The attack, which began with a massive rocket barrage at 6:29 AM, marked the beginning of one of the most horrific days in Israel’s history, and the malfunctioning of the Iron Dome system played a significant role in the tragedy.

The Untold Story: What Went Wrong with Israel's Air Defense on October 7th.
According to a report by News 12, several Iron Dome batteries surrounding Gaza failed during the early minutes of the Hamas assault. For reasons that are still unclear, these batteries did not intercept rockets during the first crucial moments of the attack, leaving populated areas vulnerable. The report also stated that, over the first four hours of the attack, batteries were quickly depleted, resulting in only about half of the incoming rockets being intercepted.
The failure of the defense system led to hundreds of rockets hitting residential neighborhoods and populated areas, causing widespread destruction. Due to the chaos caused by the terrorist infiltrations, there was a significant delay in rearming the air defense batteries. Tragically, an officer and two soldiers lost their lives while escorting a truck with intercept missiles to the batteries.
Despite the air defense system being on routine alert after no intelligence warning was issued, the scale of the attack was unprecedented. In the first 20 minutes alone, over 1,000 rockets were fired at Israel, with a total of 3,700 rockets in the first four hours. Remarkably, the number of casualties from rocket strikes was relatively low, with 14 Israelis killed, seven of whom were from the diaspora. This can be partly attributed to the effectiveness of Israel's warning system, which prompted citizens to take shelter.
In the aftermath, significant lessons were learned. It was decided to deploy a broader array of Iron Dome batteries during routine operations, ensuring a stronger response in the event of future attacks. These changes are intended to prevent similar failures from happening again and to better protect Israeli civilians in the face of such a catastrophic threat.
