Israel finally establishing some boundaries

In an effort to maintain security and prevent potential clashes during Ramadan, the Israel Police have imposed a ban on released Hamas prisoners from entering the Temple Mount.

This measure, which was announced ahead of the holy month in Islam, also includes individuals involved in celebrations or parades honoring the release of security prisoners. The authorities have enacted this ban using administrative orders to help ensure calm during a time traditionally associated with heightened tensions in the region.

Ramadan, which begins next week, has prompted a series of precautionary actions by the police. As part of their strategy to prevent conflicts, the Israel Police will deploy approximately 3,000 officers daily, who will patrol checkpoints leading into Jerusalem and around sensitive areas within the Old City, including the Temple Mount. The police have recommended allowing 10,000 residents from Judea and Samaria to enter the Temple Mount during Ramadan, though this recommendation has yet to receive approval from the government. Entry would be subject to certain age and gender restrictions.

The police restrictions, which have been adjusted annually, typically prevent men of certain age groups from accessing the Temple Mount. These age ranges are determined by the police each year based on security concerns.

In their efforts to keep the situation under control, the police also released updated statistics showing significant improvements in security. Since the Operation Guardian of the Walls in 2021, disturbances in Jerusalem have decreased by 60%. In 2025 alone, law enforcement detained 600 illegal residents, investigated 100 employers for employing them, and shut down 20 businesses involved in such practices.

Moreover, in the wake of the October 7th massacre, authorities have opened approximately 500 investigations into incitement cases and filed 160 indictments. These steps illustrate Israel’s ongoing efforts to curb violence and maintain order, particularly in Jerusalem, during high-risk periods like Ramadan.
