The State Camp faction announced today (Sunday) that it is going to elections for party leadership. The one expected to run against the current chairman Benny Gantz is his party partner Gadi Eizenkot.

The party announced that: "In the coming months, the party will open its ranks for public membership, the party assembly will be renewed and significantly expanded. Elections for party leadership will be held within the framework of the new assembly, and members of the party's audit committee and other internal institutions will be reappointed. The implementation process will continue in the coming weeks under the leadership of party secretary-general Eitan Ginzburg and party CEO Yoav Taani, and will be led by a diverse and joint team."

It should be noted that the demand to hold primaries arose in an agreement signed between Eizenkot and Gantz when the former entered politics about 3 years ago. In media interviews in recent months, Eizenkot did not rule out a joint run with Naftali Bennett in the upcoming elections, which apparently prompted Gantz to approve the move.
