After targeted attacks on Ofer Winter, the ruling Likud party is now turning its fire toward Prof. Yaron Zelekha.
The move comes against the backdrop of internal and external polling data showing that a significant portion of the voter base for Zelekha and Yoaz Hendel, estimated at around 60% of their total support, comes directly from Netanyahu's right-wing bloc.
The growing pressure within Likud against satellite parties on the right stems from two central concerns. On one hand, Netanyahu's headquarters fears a scenario in which these lists fail to pass the electoral threshold, leading to the loss of as many as eight mandates for the right-wing bloc.
