Internal review shows posts targeting the former IDF colonel earn the lowest engagement of the entire campaign, as Winter continues to poll above the threshold
Less than a month before the election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's strategy is running into trouble. An internal review conducted by the Likud party has found that the campaign's attacks on former IDF colonel Ofer Winter are not working, according to a report in Yisrael Hayom.
The posts targeting Winter have drawn the lowest engagement of any content in the campaign, between 1,700 and 4,000 likes each, compared to tens of thousands on other posts, the review found.
Sources in the Likud said the findings reflect the support Winter enjoys among right-wing voters. "Winter is consistently polling above the electoral threshold. We cannot continue this campaign, and a recalculation is required," they said. Party officials are warning that the continued negative campaign is eroding Likud's standing in the polls and endangering the entire right-wing bloc.
The Likud party responded: "This is complete fake news and a baseless fabrication. Winter endangers the right-wing bloc and will lead to the formation of a left-wing government with the Arab parties."
