Haaretz reporter Noa Shpigel spoke Thursday morning about the terror attack on the Fly Dubai flight from Dubai to Israel, on which her 74-year-old mother was a passenger, describing the emotions after the full scope of the incident became clear.
"A terrible experience. I'm so relieved it ended this way, we were close to a disaster on an insane scale," Shpigel said in an interview with Radio 103FM.
According to Shpigel, the more details she hears from her mother about what happened on the plane, the clearer it becomes how critical a series of actions by passengers and crew members were.
"They're full of coincidences, this hero and that hero, and all of them together managed to take control of the situation and save so many people," she said.
Before the full picture emerged, Shpigel shared her emotional turmoil Wednesday upon learning her mother was on the flight. "I'm not a violent person in any way, but the man who decided to put my mother, at 74, through what she went through on that flight from Dubai, well, I suggest we don't meet," she wrote.
