The Israel Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert Thursday morning for the Mediterranean coast, warning of high and dangerous sea conditions from 10:00 this morning through 22:00 tonight.
Sea conditions are classified as rough, with significant wave heights expected to range between 70 and 110 centimeters. No meaningful change in conditions is forecast during daylight hours.
The Meteorological Service warns that these conditions carry a real risk of drowning due to high waves, drift and strong currents capable of pulling swimmers out to sea. Additional hazards include injury from breaking waves, rocks and stones in the water, and the danger of being swept away in shallow areas.
