Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot told Israel Hayom in an interview less than a month before the elections that even if the opposition does not secure 61 Knesset seats, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not remain in office.
"I am working toward a victory with a majority of 63 to 64 seats, which would even allow us to expand the government," Eisenkot said. "But if the scenario Netanyahu is pushing for happens, a victory by preventing 61 Zionist mandates, we cannot allow a transitional government under his leadership to continue serving."
"In this critical hour, we will need to pass a government with a clear and unambiguous Zionist majority and try to expand it as much as possible," he continued. "At the same time, Netanyahu's bloc is falling apart: Agudas Yisrael is already out, and there are other unknowns like Winter and Zelicha."
Asked whether there is any possibility of a rotation agreement with Netanyahu, Eisenkot replied: "I don't see such a possibility, because Netanyahu must go home after October 7. I don't see him as a partner in any scenario, only as someone to be defeated."
He added a pledge to his own party members: "There will be no Silman with me, and there will be no Shikli. I'm signing for you that there won't be. If anyone thinks this contradicts his worldview, he will get up and resign. I told everyone who joined that I expect them to follow my personal example: when I had a political disagreement with Gantz, I got up and resigned from the Knesset. We will bring a different kind of political conduct, that's the message of Yashar!"
