Res. Brig. Gen. Oren Solomon, who commanded the combat forces of the Gaza Division on October 7 and later headed the division's internal war investigation team, gave an interview this morning (Friday) on Galei Yisrael radio and addressed the exposure of the name of the Gaza Division intelligence officer at the time.
In his remarks, Solomon said: "There is an attempt to whitewash the October 7 failure in order to protect the General Staff from the collapse. Above Aryeh Amidror there are another twenty intelligence officers who have broader responsibility. There were failures and whitewashing in the Navy and the Air Force as well; the Air Force knew everything and was criminally negligent during the night.
People are staying silent not out of love for Mordechai, but out of fear of rank and authority. The goal is to transfer responsibility from the senior intelligence officers, who had more information and more responsibility, to someone from the field level. This is an ethical disgrace. Instead of taking responsibility and admitting mistakes, they're pinning it on those who fought."
He concluded: "Aryeh and the people of the Gaza Division were the only ones in the IDF who brought people back during the night, while not a single other unit, including the Operations Directorate, the Intelligence Directorate, 8200, or Southern Command, did so. These facts are being distorted in the investigations. When the IDF marked me and sent an investigation after me, the goal was to neutralize me and send a deterrent message to the entire army: don't speak up or you'll be swallowed."
