Car flips at Ramon Airport; no terror

Initial reports of a security incident at Israel's southern airport turned out to be a traffic accident. No injuries reported.

Ramon Airport in Eilat

A vehicle overturned and struck a perimeter fence at Ramon Airport on Tuesday, prompting initial reports of a possible security breach. Authorities later confirmed that the incident was a traffic accident with no indication of hostile activity. No injuries were reported.

Early reports suggested that a vehicle had attempted to breach the airport's security perimeter, raising concerns of a potential terror attack. The incident occurred when the vehicle flipped over and crashed into the fence surrounding the facility.

Security forces who responded to the scene determined that there was no suspicion of hostile sabotage activity (pach'a, in IDF terminology). The initial security alert was lifted after investigators established that the crash resulted from the vehicle overturning rather than a deliberate attempt to penetrate the airport grounds.

Details about the circumstances that led to the vehicle flipping, the identity of the driver, and what caused the crash into the fence have not yet been released. Authorities also have not disclosed whether any damage was caused to airport infrastructure at the site.
