Elections 2026

Senior Yesh Atid MK ousted in final count

Naor Shiri, placed 14th on the Yachad joint list, will leave the Knesset after four years as the alliance falls short of his slot

Yair Lapid

MK Naor Shiri of Yesh Atid will not return to the Knesset after the final count from the 2026 elections gave the Yachad joint list 12 mandates. Shiri, who was placed 14th on the combined slate, served one term in the outgoing Knesset. On Thursday morning he published a raw and personal farewell post summing up his four years, thanking his family and staff, and making clear he has no intention of stepping back from public life.

"That's it, it's over…" Shiri opened. "Truth is, I'm the most optimistic and the most pessimistic person there is, believing until the very end. I tried to do everything I could over the past four years: plenum, committees, votes, days and nights, with you in the streets, conferences, house meetings, panels, phone calls, the family and friends WhatsApp groups, outside the polling stations on election day… I tried, it wasn't enough."

"Thank you to my wife and children — I fought for you"

Shiri turned to thank his family and close team for their support and sacrifice over the past years:

"I want to thank first of all my family, especially my incredible wife at my side. They were there for me over the past four years and let me fight for our future. Thank you and I'm sorry. Thank you to my amazing team, Amit, Daniel and Aya, sorry is definitely owed to you as well. Thank you to my family in Yesh Atid, 15 years we've been marching, not giving up, we came for years."

Shiri also noted with a smile the coming change in his daily routine with his children: "Thank you to my children who remind me every morning of my mission. They'll definitely be happy to discover that Dad can be present in the evenings too, on Shabbos and holidays… or maybe not. I fought for you."

"No chance I'll stop fighting for the country"

Despite leaving the Knesset with the final distribution of mandates, Shiri made clear his public battle is far from over, while praising his parliamentary work alongside his fellow faction member:

"I'm the most optimistic pessimist there is, no chance I'll give up. No chance I'll stop fighting for the country. Not me, and certainly not Vladi (Beliak), who taught me what the Finance Committee and parliamentary struggle really are. Am Yisrael Chai, Will be back."
