Firefighters in Kiryat Ata rescued a cow that had become trapped in thick mud up to its neck, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services Coast District announced Sunday morning.
The incident began when emergency services received a report of an animal in distress on Yitzchak Rabin Street in the northern city. Fire crews from the Kiryot station rushed to the scene, where they found the cow submerged in dense mud with only its head visible above the surface.
An initial assessment revealed that the animal had been stuck in the muddy pit for an extended period and required urgent professional assistance. The incident commander determined that the rescue would require coordination with municipal authorities, and a city veterinarian was called to the scene to provide medical support for the exhausted animal.
Once the necessary equipment and personnel arrived, the complex extraction operation began. Rescue teams used specialized straps and heavy lifting equipment to free the cow from the mud's grip. The joint effort succeeded, and the cow was pulled to safety and stood on its feet.
