Trump’s Envoy Removed from Handling Gaza Hostage Issue

Breaking: White House Pulls Envoy Adam Boehler From Hamas Hostage Talks

With Boehler out, the future of the talks is uncertain. Hamas might interpret this as a sign of U.S. weakness or disarray, potentially stalling progress. Alternatively, a new envoy could adopt a tougher or more discreet approach.

Following the uproar in the U.S., Adam Boehler, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy for hostage affairs, has been removed from handling the issue of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, according to a report today (Thursday) by Jewish Insider.

According to the report, the decision to remove Boehler from the issue stemmed from interviews he gave last week about direct U.S. talks with Hamas regarding a hostage deal. Sources in the Republican Party said that Capitol Hill wants Boehler completely removed from his role, not just from the Gaza hostage matter—though no decision has been made on this yet.

Notably, Adam Boehler did not conduct the negotiations - the person solely responsible for the issue was Witkoff.

Boehler spoke and met with senior Hamas officials - because, according to U.S. law, he was the only official who can communicate with elements from terrorist organizations (just as the envoy during Biden’s time spoke with Taliban members).

Foreign Minister Rubio explicitly said this week: "The channel and dialogue with Hamas have ended. And it ended without results."

Boehler caused widespread controversy this week when he spoke to CNN about the direct contacts the U.S. held with Hamas to secure the release of hostages. "I understand why the Israelis are angry, but we’re the U.S.—we’re not Israel’s agents, and we have our own interests," he said. He further claimed that Israel’s furious reaction to the talks with the terror group "stemmed from the possibility that I might meet Hamas representatives and say: ‘They don’t have horns growing out of their heads; they’re actually guys like us, nice guys.’"

Following the controversy, Boehler issued a clarification on social media, stating: "I want to be clear, as some have misunderstood. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has murdered thousands of innocent people. They are, by definition, bad people. And as President Trump said, no Hamas member will be safe if Hamas does not immediately release all the hostages."
