With the current ceasefire between the United States and Iran set to expire shortly, assessments within Israel suggest the truce will not hold. Experts believe the U.S. is already positioning itself to resume active combat operations against the Islamic Republic.

Major General (Res.) Yaakov Amidror addressed the situation Sunday morning on 'Galey Israel' Radio, offering a strategic overview of recent American maneuvers.

"Looking at things from a birds-eye view, the Americans have paused military action three times in favor of diplomatic moves, in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran," Amidror noted.

The Military Buildup

Amidror highlighted that the U.S. has effectively stripped Iran of its control over the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a readiness to escalate. "Anyone who has seen the sheer volume of American aircraft flying into the region over the last ten days understands that the Americans are absolutely preparing for war, depending on the outcome of the negotiations," he said.

A Clash of Narratives: Trump vs. Iran

The tension follows a series of conflicting reports between the Trump administration and Tehran. Last night:

As the diplomatic clock runs out, the massive influx of U.S. airpower suggests that Washington is preparing to enforce its policy by force if the current standoff is not resolved.

According to Live Israel News:

An Israeli analyst writes that all the signs point to Trump moving toward an attack on Iran, not a real agreement.
He argues there will be no deal because the gap between Washington and Tehran is too wide, and that the only outcome short of war would be full Iranian surrender.
The analyst also says Trump has used this playbook before: project negotiations, look weak or confused, and then surprise everyone with military action.
He points to the American military buildup in the region, saying three aircraft carriers, tens of thousands of troops, thousands of Marines, hundreds of transport planes, and dozens of destroyers and ships are not there for talks.
He also argues that reports to senior journalists suggesting the war is over look like the same disinformation seen in previous rounds.
According to the analysis, Trump wants this behind him before the World Cup in the United States and before the midterm campaigns begin in November, so he can present clear results.
In short, the analyst says the countdown has begun, and that the United States, Israel, and possibly Gulf states could strike Iran, potentially with ground forces involved.
