Advisers close to President Trump have expressed profound shock over a blockade imposed on the village by Israeli settlers, publicly questioning how the Israel Defense Forces failed to prevent harm to Palestinian residents.
The incident, which occurred during the past week, involved blocking access roads to the village and cutting off residents from water and electricity supplies. The actions followed the murder of two Israelis approximately three weeks ago near the village of Tal.
The IDF responded sharply to the siege, characterizing the activity as "illegal, reprehensible and unacceptable." In an official statement, the military noted that in recent weeks it has received multiple reports of Israeli civilians entering Palestinian homes and lands in the Kusra and Jalud areas and taking control of them.
