‘Glass Fell Where Her Head Would Be’
Yair Lapid Reveals Granddaughter’s Near Miss in Iranian Missile Strike on Tel Aviv | WATCH
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid revealed the personal impact of an Iranian missile strike that damaged his son’s apartment in Tel Aviv, narrowly missing his infant granddaughter. The incident underscores the ongoing fear and disruption faced by civilians amid escalating conflict with Iran.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid visited his son’s apartment today in Tel Aviv, which sustained damage during Iran’s overnight missile barrage on the city. The attack, part of a series of retaliatory strikes following Israel’s Operation “With the Lion’s Might” against Iranian nuclear and military sites, left Lapid shaken as he revealed that shards of glass from a shattered window fell onto the bed of his one-year-and-one-month-old granddaughter. “The bedroom of my granddaughter was hit, and glass fragments landed exactly where her head usually rests,” Lapid said, underscoring the terrifying proximity of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in his family, but the event highlighted the personal impact of the ongoing conflict on Israeli civilians.
Lapid used the moment to urge the public to adhere to safety protocols, stating, “I’m telling everyone stay safe and follow the Home Front Command’s instructions. Stay in protected rooms. Don’t take risks.” The Home Front Command’s Level 4 emergency regulations, in place since June 13, mandate staying near shelters and avoiding public gatherings, as Iran’s missile attacks have killed at least 21 and injured over 300 across Israel, including 10 deaths in Bat Yam. Tel Aviv, a frequent target, saw significant damage to residential buildings, with hospitals reporting a surge in trauma cases.
The missile barrage, which included warheads evading Israel’s air defenses, has intensified national anxiety, with frequent sirens disrupting sleep and daily routines. Lapid’s experience resonates with many Israelis, as families huddle in safe rooms nightly, fearing further attacks. The conflict, coupled with the closure of Israel’s airspace and the stranding of 200,000 citizens abroad, has paralyzed normal life, with workplaces, schools, and entertainment venues shuttered. Amid the crisis, with 53 hostages still held by Hamas, Lapid’s call for vigilance reflects the nation’s resolve to endure, even as personal losses mount.
