Terror foiled at the finish line: Israeli undercover units (YAMAS) have arrested a suspect in East Jerusalem who was reportedly plotting a Jerusalem Day attack.

Security forces narrowly averted a major disaster on Thursday after a high-stakes intelligence operation led to the capture of a suspect allegedly planning a mass-casualty attack during the upcoming Jerusalem Day celebrations.
The Takedown: Operation in Abu Tor
Acting on precise intelligence provided by the Shin Bet, undercover agents from the Border Police (YAMAS) went to the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Tor.
A wanted suspect identified as planning a terror attack specifically timed for the upcoming Jerusalem Day events was tracked to a local car wash. Undercover units, operating in total secrecy, swarmed the compound and apprehended the individual before he could resist The suspect was taken alive and transferred to Shin Bet custody for urgent interrogation. No injuries were reported among Israeli forces.
Security on High Alert
The arrest comes as the capital prepares for the tense Jerusalem Day march. Police officials emphasized that the "seamless cooperation" between the Shin Bet and the YAMAS undercover division continues to be the primary line of defense against festive-season terrorism.
"The joint effort between Border Police undercover units and the General Security Service continues to be a significant component in thwarting terrorism," the police stated following the raid. "Security forces will continue to act with determination against any threat."
