‘MATTER OF HOURS’: Iran Expert Warns New Supreme Leader Must Be Targeted Immediately
Iran expert Beni Sabti warns that the window to target new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is a "matter of hours" as the IRGC tightens its grip on Tehran.

Following the official ascension of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, analysts are warning that the window to destabilize the new regime is closing rapidly.
Beni Sabti, a prominent expert on Iranian affairs, spoke to Galei Israel Radio on Monday, delivering a stark assessment of the transition. According to Sabti, the international community—specifically Israel and the U.S.—must act within a razor-thin timeframe to prevent the new leadership from cementing its grip.
Sabti emphasized that Mojtaba’s appointment was orchestrated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who are now effectively running the country.
At 56, Mojtaba is described as even more radical and uncompromising than his late father, Ali Khamenei.
Sabti noted that the younger Khamenei has been a key architect of domestic suppression since 2005. "He doesn’t believe in the people; he believes only in the religious decree that whatever the Leader decides is law," Sabti warned.
The expert argued that Mojtaba is the "weakest link" in the leadership chain right now, but that his vulnerability won't last.
The test is on us and the Americans: how much time do we give him?" Sabti stated. "In my opinion, it’s a matter of hours. We cannot give him more than that."
The official confirmation of Mojtaba’s rise comes after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the opening wave of strikes at the start of the current conflict. A shadowy figure operating behind the scenes in his father's office, Mojtaba is now stepping into the light as the regime's ultimate authority during a period of total war.
