Israel confirmed on Monday that Majid Khademi, the head of intelligence for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in an airstrike in Tehran earlier in the day.

According to Israeli officials, the strike was carried out based on intelligence and targeted senior regime infrastructure in the Iranian capital. Defense Minister Israel Katz said he was briefed on the operation during a security assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.

“Iran’s leaders live with a sense of persecution. We will continue to hunt them down one by one,” Katz said following the strike.

Iranian state media also confirmed Khademi’s death, describing him as a senior and influential figure within the IRGC. In a statement, the Guards accused Israel and the United States of carrying out what it called a “criminal terrorist attack,” though it did not provide further operational details.

Reports from Iran indicated that multiple airstrikes hit areas around Tehran early Monday morning, including locations described as residential. It remains unclear whether Khademi was specifically targeted at one of those sites or killed as part of a broader strike campaign.

Khademi led the IRGC’s intelligence organization, one of the regime’s most critical security bodies, responsible for both internal surveillance and external operations. His killing marks one of the most senior confirmed Iranian intelligence losses since the start of the current conflict.

The strike comes amid an ongoing wave of Israeli and US attacks targeting Iranian military and strategic assets, alongside continued Iranian missile launches and regional escalation.

There was no immediate indication from Iranian officials on how or when Tehran might respond to Khademi’s killing.
