Jewish NYers Rally Against Mamdani
Mainstream Jewish groups have long criticized Mamdani over his anti-Zionist positions, but the protest marked a new stage in the confrontation, bringing activists directly to the mayor’s residence for the first time.
US Jewish groups held their first protest outside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s official residence on the Upper East Side, as tensions continued to grow between the anti-Zionist mayor and mainstream Jewish organizations.
The rally was organized by EndJewHatred, with support from groups including the Israeli American Council, the Catholic League and the Zionist Organization of America.
“We will not be intimidated. Take back our streets,” organizers said in a statement.

The protest followed weeks of escalating friction between Mamdani and Jewish leaders. Last week, the mayor released a Nakba Day video that Jewish groups denounced as propaganda. He also backed legislation targeting Jewish charities linked to settlement activity.
Jewish leaders said earlier versions of the bill would have affected a wide range of Jewish nonprofits, including social service groups with ties to communities beyond the Green Line but no role in promoting settlement expansion.
Mamdani also refused to take part in the Jewish community’s annual Israel Day on Fifth parade, scheduled for this weekend.
