U.S. intelligence shared with President Donald Trump revealed that Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei harbored doubts about appointing his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as his successor, according to sources cited in a CBS News report. The information indicated that Khamenei viewed Mojtaba as "not very bright" and lacking the necessary qualifications for leadership.

Additionally, the intel suggested Khamenei was aware of unspecified "problems in his personal life" affecting his son.

This disclosure emerges following Mojtaba's controversial ascension to Supreme Leader after Ali Khamenei's reported assassination in late February, amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran war.

Many say that the IRGC forced him to be chosen, even though he is seriously wounded and unfit to lead.

Trump has publicly criticized the choice, calling Mojtaba "unacceptable" and implying he may not endure in the role long-term.
