FM Katz summons Brazilian ambassador over Lula's comparison of Gaza war to Holocaust
After the Brazilian President compared the war in Gaza to Hitler's genocide of the Jews, Foreign Minister Katz announced that the Brazilian ambassador would be summoned to be reprimanded.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced today (Sunday) that he would be summoning the Brazilian ambassador to be reprimanded tomorrow for the statement of Brazilian President Lula, who compared the war in Gaza to the Holocaust.
i24 News reports that Lula told his audience at an African Union summit that "What's happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people hasn't happened at any other moment in history. Actually, it has happened: when Hitler decided to kill the Jews."
Foreign Minister Katz responded by saying that this statement was "shameful" and that "no-one will attack Israel's right to defend itself."
Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly called the statement the crossing of a red line, according to Israel Hayom.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid said "I wonder what Lula would say if a terrorist group hit Brazil (like October 7). Shameful."
