Mohammed Nafis Ahmed, a 32-year-old British resident, was jailed this week after threatening British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after he wrote on social media "You are a Zionist, your time will come" and attached a knife emoji.
Ahmed, a resident of the West Midlands, dedicated his former Twitter account to the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and according to the tweets, he is an ardent supporter of the Hamas terror organization.
Among the tweets were calls for jihad and anti-Semitic violence against Jews in the UK. The defendant pleaded guilty to eight counts of prohibited support for the terrorist organization, and last Thursday he was sentenced to one year in prison.
During the hearing, the judge turned to him: "You had terrorist motives, you knew that Hamas was a prohibited organization, even though you said you didn't know." The judge also rejected the claim that this was an "exceptional case" and that the offense was very serious.
The judge also said that "Nafis committed the act after viewing pictures of wounded children from the Gaza Strip, and knew little about the organization he purports to support," his defense attorney claimed, "He does not see himself as an anti-Semite in any way."
Over the past year, Ahmed has attacked Israel, writing harsh words against it: "Wipe them off the map, death to Israel and the United States," "Eliminate every Zionist," and "We Muslims are not afraid of anyone." The defendant, who has no previous convictions, claimed that his actions were "erroneous and uncalculated," and called himself an idiot.
