French President Emmanuel Macron delivered sharp criticism of Israel during his address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, focusing on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, developments in Judea and Samaria, and Israeli operations in neighboring countries.
According to a report by the Anadolu news agency, Macron described the situation in Gaza as "shameful" and warned that the international community's credibility is at risk if it fails to respond to what is happening in the Strip.
The French president argued that one cannot declare a desire to achieve peace without simultaneously increasing the volume of humanitarian aid transferred to Gaza. He also criticized countries that have recognized a Palestinian state but, according to him, are not taking action regarding the humanitarian situation in the Strip.
Alongside his criticism, Macron emphasized that France remains committed to Israel's security. However, he said, the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people must also be protected, including their right to exist.
Addressing Judea and Samaria, Macron condemned what he characterized as violations occurring daily. He warned against claims that protecting Israel's security requires violating the sovereignty of neighboring states.
