Six people were killed when a Russian military aircraft crashed near the town of Krasnoyarovo in the Amur region of southeastern Russia on Tuesday, the Interfax news agency reported. One crew member survived the crash with moderate injuries and was evacuated to hospital.
The aircraft had taken off from Ukrainka air base and went down minutes after departure, according to an initial investigation. The plane's fuel tanks ignited upon impact with the ground, triggering an explosion that set the wreckage ablaze.
