US-Iran Tensions: Trump Vows Response to Jordan Attack

US President Donald Trump said America will respond forcefully to an Iranian attack on American forces in Jordan that took place overnight, according to an interview he gave to Fox News.

"We're going to hit them hard, there will be a response," Trump told the network, delivering a clear warning to Tehran following the strike. According to the president, US air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the missiles launched in the attack. However, one missile was allowed to pass through American airspace after being identified in advance as not posing a threat to any significant target. US forces deliberately permitted it to continue on its trajectory, Trump explained.

Trump noted that Iranian officials "desperately want to meet." However, he expressed uncertainty about whether the Tehran regime can be trusted to reach any meaningful agreement. The president emphasized that current American sanctions against Iran are working effectively and achieving their intended goals of pressuring the regime.

In a separate post on his social media platform, the president wrote:

"Iran is officially a failed nation. It's dead! They have no navy, they have no air force, they have no currency, they don't pay their soldiers or police, inflation is at 300%, and their leadership is in complete disarray and unable to properly represent the country. The only thing they have is fake news from the US, a willingness to kill their protesters (now over 100,000 people dead. They should be tried for war crimes against humanity!), and a good line of 'nonsense.'"
