US personnel injured in a drone strike on a Manama tower as Iran-US tensions escalate. The Embassy urges Americans in Bahrain to avoid hotels amid rising risks.

Multiple American military personnel were injured in a direct strike on a tower in Manama, Bahrain, amid escalating tensions in the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The incident, which occurred around involved Iranian drones or missiles targeting a location housing US Department of Defense staff.
According to social media accounts and initial news dispatches citing Reuters, the attack struck inside one of the towers in the Bahraini capital, leading to the transfer of injured US soldiers to local hospitals for treatment. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Shahed-type drones causing significant structural damage and igniting fires in the affected buildings. A Washington Post report detailed that the drone strike targeted a hotel in Bahrain, injuring at least two US Defense Department personnel.
In response, the US Embassy in Bahrain has issued advisories urging American citizens to avoid hotels in Manama due to heightened risks of further attacks.
Casualty figures remain unconfirmed, with some unverified reports mentioning "dozens" of missiles or drones involved, though no fatalities have been officially reported from this specific event. Bahrain hosts the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters, positioning it as a strategic target in the region.
This strike follows a pattern of recent escalations, including an Iranian airstrike in Kuwait last week that claimed the lives of six US Army Reserve soldiers. Their remains were repatriated in dignified transfer ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base on March 7-8, attended by President Trump. Earlier incidents in late February also resulted in US casualties in Bahrain-related strikes, including Geoffrey Charles Lombardo, David Wayne Whitted, Patrick Devon Johnson, Allen Gene Hsiao, and Navy personnel John Gallardo Protasio.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet provided detailed confirmation on the Bahrain incident, limiting statements to acknowledgments of ongoing regional threats. Iranian officials have issued no immediate comment. Investigations are underway as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve rapidly.
