The Omani co-pilot accused in the Flydubai incident had a fallback target, the US Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, if he could not crash the plane in Israel, according to Open Source Intel.
Hamam al-Hammami, 29, has been charged with attempted terrorism by UAE prosecutors after attacking the captain of flight FZ1073 with a cockpit axe, according to JFeed's earlier report. UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi confirmed al-Hammami "attacked the captain inside the flight deck using a crash axe" before attempting to seize the aircraft's controls. Al-Hammami has told investigators he intended to crash the plane inside Israel, ABC News reported, citing multiple sources familiar with the investigation.
