Houthis Flee Yemen Port Amid Saudi Offensive

Large numbers of fighters have abandoned Al-Mokha, according to Yemeni journalist Fares Al-Himyari, as pro-government forces push forward along the Red Sea coast

Large numbers of Houthi fighters have begun fleeing the port city of Al-Mokha, with most shops shuttered, according to Yemeni journalist Fares Al-Himyari. The Iran-backed militia captured the strategic Red Sea port approximately three weeks ago.

The flight comes as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have launched a renewed offensive along Yemen's western coast. Pro-government troops retook the Al-Omari military camp in Dhubab earlier this month and recaptured the Bab al-Mandab Strait in early October. The Houthis have fired missiles and drones at Israel and attacked Red Sea shipping in recent months.
