A senior Iranian official has warned that any new confrontation with the United States could result in opening a second front at Bab el-Mandeb in addition to the Strait of Hormuz, according to Open Source Intel. Mohsen Rezaei stated: "linking the two chokepoints will change the battlefield."
The threat carries direct implications for Israel, as the Bab el-Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and serves as a vital passage for commerce between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Iran-backed Houthi forces have already demonstrated their ability to disrupt shipping through the strategic waterway. Recent Houthi missile strikes killed crew members on commercial vessels in the strait, according to Al-Hadath and Yemen's Transport Ministry.
