Despite reports of possible progress in negotiations and President Trump's remarks cooling expectations of an American attack, explosions were heard again overnight on the island the US has been striking without pause in recent weeks.
Blasts in southern Iran despite Trump talk
Series of explosions heard on Qeshm Island and at Bandar Abbas port, areas the US has struck repeatedly in recent nights, even as President Trump signals possible progress in negotiations

According to local sources, powerful explosions were heard again in southern Iran overnight, on a wider scale than before. Initial reports indicate several blasts in the area of Qeshm Island in southern Iran, north of the Strait of Hormuz, a region the US has struck many times over recent nights, including several instances in which it did not take direct responsibility for the attacks.
In addition, explosions were also reported in the area of the central port of Bandar Abbas, on Iran's southern coast.
Over recent weeks, the Iranians and Americans have exchanged blows in this region many times, with the Tehran regime using Qeshm Island as a command center for managing the blockade of Hormuz and launching numerous attacks from there.
