Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, met this morning (Monday) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem with the Foreign Minister of Zambia, Stanley Kakubo. During the meeting, the ministers signed a framework agreement between the two countries that will strengthen cooperation in the fields of medicine, communication, agriculture, and culture.
According to the announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "the two discussed the relations between the two countries, as well as strengthening Israel's position in the African continent and the regional arena. Minister Cohen congratulated his counterpart on the achievement of the Zambian women's national soccer team, which advanced to the semi-finals in the Women's World Cup being held these days in Australia and New Zealand."

As mentioned, in recent weeks, Minister Cohen has conducted a series of visits in the African continent, including Kenya, Ghana, and Ivory Coast, following strategic diplomatic meetings he held in recent months in Europe, Eurasia, and Asia. "Africa is growing, and along with it, there is also potential for Israel's relations with the continent's countries," said Cohen. "During my recent visits to East and West Africa, I found genuine friendship towards Israel and support of our partnership."

"Zambia is an important country for Israel in southern Africa, which is interested in strengthening its ties with us," added the Israeli minister. "My friend, Foreign Minister Kakubo, and I agreed to work together to achieve progress and prosperity for the benefit of our peoples."
