The President of the country, Yitzhak Herzog, visited today (Tuesday) families from the Gaza envelope staying at the Ma'aleh Hachamisha Hotel and called on politicians to establish a national emergency government today. This evening at 5:00 PM, a meeting between the headquarters of the abducted families and the president took place.

During his visit, he held a meeting with the head of the Ashkelon Coast Council, Itamar Revivo, as well as with Home Front Command personnel and those providing support and assistance to the residents of Kibbutz Zikim and Netiv HaAsara. According to him: "Two communities sitting on the border, which were among the first to suffer the terrible blow from Gaza, along with all the communities in the envelope, at exactly the same time."

"Establishing a unity government - to show that we are not divided"

Herzog spoke about the meeting with the families who evacuated from the southern settlements: "I met very strong people who have endured a heavy disaster and a terrible trauma. They are our brothers and sisters who are still in shock from the severe blow, while showing extraordinary mental strength, and expecting answers simultaneously.

"They are waiting to see how the country organizes itself to provide them with basic answers: housing, livelihood, long-term plans, strengthening the psychological and physical aspects, and, of course, the overall community support."

In conclusion, he emphasized the importance of quickly forming a unity government: "Therefore, I believe that we all agree that our national priorities are changing and will change accordingly. The first and foremost demand and claim that arises is to establish a national emergency government today, so that we can show both internally and externally that we are not fragmented or divided, but moving forward and striving towards future goals as a nation."
