Third Missile Launch from Yemen in Two Days Prompts Alarms Across Central Israel
Missile Fired from Yemen; Alarms Sound in Tel Aviv, Coastal Plain, and Sharon
IDF confirms successful interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis. Flights were briefly halted at Ben Gurion Airport. No injuries reported.

Air-raid sirens were activated across central Israel early Friday morning (around 4:12 AM) following the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen. The Israeli military confirmed the missile was intercepted successfully, marking the third such attack in just two days.
Sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, the coastal plain, and the Sharon region. As in previous incidents, flights at Ben Gurion Airport were temporarily suspended, resuming about ten minutes later.
Magen David Adom reported that no casualties or rocket impacts were recorded.
This latest missile launch continues a pattern of repeated long-range attacks by Yemen's Houthi movement, who have openly declared their intention to escalate in response to Israeli military actions.
In yesterday's incident, sirens were heard at 11:52 AM across Jerusalem, the Judean foothills, the Dead Sea area, and parts of the West Bank. The IDF stated the missile was intercepted, but debris from an interceptor fell near Ein Shemer, sparking a fire and causing several civilians to suffer smoke inhalation.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attacks. In a televised statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea praised the previous night’s strike, saying it "achieved its objective, halted air traffic for nearly an hour, and sent millions into shelters." He added: "We will not hesitate to escalate further in support of our allies."
Fragments from an earlier interception were found in Lod, damaging a residential building. MDA reported one person was injured on their way to a shelter.
Houthi official Nasr al-Din Amer also issued direct threats: "Airlines operating at Ben Gurion should take our warnings seriously. So should all ships in Haifa Port. Foreign nationals should leave. Escalation will continue as long as the aggression on Gaza does."
Earlier this week, the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes on Houthi positions at the ports of Hodeidah and al-Salif, in an operation dubbed "Red Sunsets." According to Saudi reports, more than ten strikes were carried out. Israel's stated goal: impose a naval blockade to prevent Iranian arms transfers to the Houthis.
Israeli defense commentators note that the intensifying missile fire from Yemen may be part of a broader Iranian strategy to stretch Israel’s air defense systems and signal regional solidarity with Hamas during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The situation remains highly volatile.
