The Prime Minister is set to speak at the UN conference in New York this coming Friday. The flight to the conference was postponed to Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to the security situation, and there's concern it might even be pushed to Thursday.
After his speech on Friday, Netanyahu was supposed to keep Shabbos in the US and leave immediately after it, around 2:30 PM Israel time. However, due to the security situation, they are considering moving up the flight even if it would have to take place on Shabbos.
The ultra-Orthodox are furious about this.
United Torah Judaism conveyed a message to the Prime Minister's staff ahead of the flight to the US: "We're not willing to absorb a Chilul Shabbos (desecration of the Sabbath)) if there's no pikuach nefesh in it. If Netanyahu can't fly without staying over Shabbat, he shouldn't fly," as reported by Akiva Weiss.
