As word of the sudden death of Rabbi Avremel Ausband circulated, Yeshiva Telz-Riverdale fell silent earlier today.

The beloved Rosh Yeshiva, who was 76, unexpectedly collapsed on the first day of the Elul term, and tragically, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Rabbi Ausband had a long history in the Yeshiva community and was well-known for his keen intellect and kindness.

He continued a strong legacy as the son of Rav Eizik Ausband of Telshe Cleveland and the son-in-law of Bais Hatalmud's Rav Binyamin Zeilberger.

His mother, Rebbetzin Chaya Ausband a"h, was one of three daughters of Rav Avraham Yitzchok Bloch zt"l to survive the Holocaust.

His abrupt death adds to the grief of his passing– apparently he wasn't sick at all and even delivered his usual shiur on the day of his passing.

The Paroches was removed in Riverdale Yeshiva’s Bais Medrash.

HaRav Ausband left a lasting legacy that will continue for future generations, according to those who knew him. May he be a meilitz yosher for all of us in these difficult times.
