Report of Antisemitic Assault in Mexico City Circulates on Social Media
While the details echo a troubling rise in global antisemitic incidents, experts urge caution, treating the account as preliminary until verified by law enforcement. If proven true, it would align with patterns of hate-motivated violence amid heightened tensions.

A disturbing account of an alleged antisemitic attack in Mexico City has surfaced on social media, shared by a man who claims he was assaulted by a man identified as Pakistani national Omar Jamar Siddiqi.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, the victim described being viciously attacked, with Siddiqi reportedly smashing a glass into his face while shouting "genocidal maniac" or "genocider." The victim, who identified himself as Jewish, suggested the assault was motivated by his faith. He included graphic photos of his injuries, showing deep facial lacerations and blood, along with images of what appear to be Siddiqi's identification documents: a Pakistani National Identity Card indicating a U.S. birthdate and a California driver's license, hinting at possible U.S. residency or citizenship.
The post was amplified by antisemitism watchdog group StopAntisemitism, which stated Siddiqi is "currently detained in Mexico after the attack," based on unverified sources. The victim mentioned ongoing efforts to obtain video footage, but none has been made public.
Authorities in Mexico City have not responded to inquiries.
