Campus antisemitism from faculty is documented in a new ADL report alleging professors at UC Berkeley, UCLA and Columbia University injected anti-Israel activism into coursework. The report found that 27.3 percent of Jewish students observed antisemitic faculty behavior.
In October 2023, a teaching assistant at UC Berkeley offered students extra credit for attending an anti-Israel walkout promoted as a protest "against the settler-colonial occupation of Gaza." That same month, at UCLA, a teaching assistant reportedly sent an email to students stating that anyone attending an "Emergency Teach-in on the Crisis in Palestine" would receive extra credit.
The report documents one-sided framing that blurs education with advocacy, including course descriptions and syllabi at Stanford, Princeton, Northwestern and UC Berkeley that present contested political claims about Israel and Zionism as settled fact.
The report also documents instances in which Jewish and Israeli students were singled out in classroom settings, including being asked to answer for Israeli government policy or being labeled an occupier or murderer because of national origin or military service.
